What are Star Wars Weekends?

Star Wars Weekends are the successive celebrations in May/June celebrating Star Wars. They are held annually at MGM studios in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

How often are the weekends held?

The weekends are held annually every weekend in May/June.

What type of people go to the weekends?

A lot of tourists who attend MGM during the weekends do not know they are even happening, so they just get taken into the festivities. The others who do know about the weekends are a variety of Star Wars and Sci-fi fans.

When should I get there?

NEW 2004: Disney will be using FASTPASS for autographs. The machines will open at 9am, even for hotel guests. Even so, you want to get near the fron of the line for park opening. Plan on getting there about 1 hour to 30 minutes before park opening. (If you are a Disney hotel guest, the park may let you in 1/2 hour before official opening, so plan accordingly.)

When is it and who will be there?

This year (2004) the weekends will be held the Friday/Saturday/Sunday of May 14- June 13.

How do I troop as a member of the Rebel/501st Legions?
First of all, you must be an 18 or older member of either of the two organizations. Your costume must be HIGH quality (ie no bathrobes, etc) in order to meet not just Legion standards but Disney's as well. The Legions will be heading the parades on all weekends but they are looking for a minimum of 35 people for each DAY, and you cannot back out unless it is an emergency. Your costume must NOT be a face character, such as Leia or Vader, that is used by Disney as well. As mentioned, the first and Fan club Weekends will be the major focus, but if you can, PLEASE sign up for other weekends. SIGN UP HERE TO TROOP AS A MEMBER OF THE 501st.
