This week has been exciting. AOTC is finally out and everyone enjoyed it...at
least mostly everyone did...check out our poll to post your opinion! Newayz,
some of you went to this year's Star Wars Weekend. Please send us your reports,
pics, etc!!!! WE NEED THEM!!!
This week we have a new style of newsie! Black background and pics! If you cannot

2. STAR WARS WEEKENDS UPDATES
*WE NEED YOUR REPORTS AND PICTURES! Because of the tiny Star Wars Weekend this
year, the webmasters were not able to attend it! We need material to cover this
year's events! Send anything to Princess Leiaorso.
3. AOTC DIGITAL SCREENINGS
*Digital Screenings have been shown across America. There have been rumors that
there is a different version of Episode 2 being shown, with small differences
from the print shown at the conventional theater. Even so, since the film was
filmed digitally, there's no better way than to watch it through the method
in which it was created. Digital sound itself is awesome, and is provided in
some theaters. The digital screening opening weekend will be followed by screenings
on the May 25th and June 13th.
4. AOTC OPENING WEEK FIGURES AND RECORDS
*Well, this blockbuster broke more records than expected. Domestically, in four
days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday), Star Wars gained $110,169,231! It
got the third highest opening weekend ever, gaining $80,027,814 and the 3rd
highest opening day gross, following close behind Spiderman and Harry Potter,
with $30,141,417. Even so, Star Wars would've probably broken more records had
it been released in more theaters. Unlike Spiderman (the top grossing opening
weekend film) which opened in 3,615 theaters, and Harry Potter, which opened
in 3,672, Star Wars was only released in 3,161 theaters across North America.
Internationally, Star Wars gained $179 over the weekend, even though it's yet
to be released in Latin America, India, South Korea and Japan. Before the release,
Lucas was interviewed about the competition between SW and Spiderman. He was
not worried about Spiderman, but instead, Men in Black II. Even so, Spiderman
is still raking up the millions, gaining $45,036,912 over the weekend. Begun
this movie war has...
5. AOTC CAUSING TROUBLE?
*A lot of Star Wars fans skipped school and work to go watch AOTC on Thursday.
Yours truly did, along with Han Solo1138. Many people played hooky across the
U.S. But how many got in trouble? As adults, skipping work seemed ok, just taking
a "personal day" off. But what about students? The emergence of new
sith lords to the school boards has diminished excuses for absences, forcing
students to lie and "skip." The newspapers gave names away of those
at theaters dressed up as their favorite characters and TV news reports showed
faces to the teachers who were reading and watching. Some students ended up
with detention, a dean's referral or a simple unexcused absence...
*AOTC has caused a new controversy- racism against Hispanics. Apparently, GL
was not abrupt enough in TPM by being racist versus Jamaicans, Asians and the
rest, he also decided to show his evil ways in AOTC. Temuera (JANGO FETT), a
NEW ZEALANDER, "looked" too much like a Latino and therefore was symbolizing
the Hispanics across the world. In Kamino (Camino-Spanish for "path"
or "walk") the multiple clones mocked the Mexicans' struggles across
the border... Now to look at this REALISTICALLY. I myself am Hispanic (NOT Latino
since I don't speak LATIN!) and believe that this is a bunch of crap. George
Lucas would not offend anyone like that and the coincidences of Kamino and Temuera
are just simply that, COINCIDENCES! Temuera is from NEW ZEALAND, therefore if
Lucas was aiming any racism, it would be towards them (not that he is or anything.)
It's just like saying, for us ignorant people that cannot tell the difference
between the different Oriental Groups, that a Chinese person is being used to
mock a South Korean...It's just IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Explanation and the sources: Chewie is Han Solo's loyal friend (OT). Han Solo
is being hunted down by Boba Fett for a bounty offered by Jabba the Hutt (OT).
Boba watched the arena fight along side Count Dooku (AOTC). Count Dooku lightsaber
dueled with Yoda.(AOTC).
